Pakistan and China are discussing expanding CPEC to include Afghanistan

Senior Pakistani and Chinese officials met on Monday to examine the idea of expanding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan in order to foster economic development and prosperity in the war-torn country.

The idea of extending the flagship initiative of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was addressed during a meeting at the Foreign Office in Islamabad between China’s special envoy on Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, and Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood.
