2 billion dollars requested in financial aid for Bangladesh

Is a financial crisis coming for Bangladesh? Due to the severe political and economic upheaval in the South Asian country, Dhaka has now asked the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for two billion dollars to help the economy.

Although all economic statistics place Bangladesh in a far more secure position than Sri Lanka, some economists theorized that Bangladesh’s growing trade imbalance and foreign debt could trigger a crisis akin to Sri Lanka’s in the years to come. However, the majority of international and local analysts have discussed the likelihood of such a scenario and explained how Bangladesh’s position differs from Sri Lanka’s.
