Cardiovascular illnesses are Pakistan’s leading cause of death

Cardiovascular disorders have risen to become Pakistan’s largest cause of mortality, with 317,850 individuals dying from heart attacks, heart failures, and strokes in 2020.

Surprisingly, the Pakistan Demographic Survey 2020, released at the same period, claims that the reason of death for 21.40 percent of persons is unknown.

Pakistan’s Crude Death Rate (CDR) has decreased significantly to 6.7 per 1,000 people, according to the primary findings of Pakistan Demographic Survey 2020, which was issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics a few days ago.

According to the most recent census, roughly 1.5 million people will die at this pace by 2020. The population of Pakistan is 224.1 million people.

Officials from the National Health Services, Regulations and Control (NHS,R&C) and Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad, confirmed that the country’s 6.7 Crude Death Rate resulted in around 1.5 million deaths in 2020, with Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), which includes heart diseases and strokes combined, accounting for the majority of deaths.

According to the Pakistan Demographic Survey, cardiac disorders such as heart attacks and heart failure alone caused 14.74 percent of fatalities, or 221,100 deaths, while strokes caused 6.45 percent of deaths, or 96,750 deaths.
