According to the latest numbers given by the State Bank of Pakistan, China remains the leading supplier of imports for Pakistan in April 2022, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Singapore (SBP).
Total imports from China increased by 11% YoY to $1.37 billion in April 2021, compared to $1.24 billion in April 2021. However, imports from China plummeted 19 percent from $1.70 billion in the previous month.
Pakistan’s second-largest import destination is the UAE, with $650 million in imports, up 36% YoY and 54% MoM from $477 million and $422 million in April 2021 and March 2022, respectively.
Saudi Arabia was ranked third on the list, with a $521 million shipment. During the time period under consideration, it increased by 62% YoY and 34% MoM.
Qatar and Singapore came in second and third, respectively, with $450 million and $296 million in imports for the month. Qatari imports increased by 203 percent year over year and 76 percent month over month. Imports from Singapore were down 1% month over month but up 16% year over year.
China remained the world’s largest importer from July to April FY22, with a total import bill of $14.36 billion, up 39 percent from the same time the previous fiscal year. The UAE comes in second with $5.30 billion in imports and Saudi Arabia comes in third with $3.4 billion, up 23 percent and 81 percent, respectively.
