Integrity – An Essential Quality of an Entrepreneur

Trustworthiness, commitment, and integrity made Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a successful entrepreneur. Just before the prophetic period, he invested time and energy to establish his business and turned out to be a wealthy trader in Arabia within 10 years of operations. Focusing on global linkages, he traveled all across Yemen, Syria, Basra, Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain, and a few other countries for making new clients and generating future leads.

It was common practice to be greedy in trade at Mecca. Cheating and exorbitant pricing were happening in the society but Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through his truthfulness challenged the entire business practices. Being transparent and trustworthy were not only the characteristics of our beloved prophet but his business policies through which he gained the trust of clients and always secured repeat business. I have interviewed hundreds of successful entrepreneurs during my journalism career. The one thing was common in all. “Repeat clients”. And developing a clientele is not an easy job. You always have to win the client’s trust and to deliver him, whatever was promised!

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said, “The best of people are those that bring the most benefit to the rest of mankind.”
