Experts in technology have urged Pakistan and China to enhance scientific and technological collaboration in order to strengthen strategic relations, create jobs, and boost economic growth.
The first ‘China-Pakistan Technology Investment Conference’ (CPTIC) urged universities in both nations to expand tech partnership centred on innovation, research, and development. Experts also urged high-tech enterprises, research institutes, and entrepreneurs in Pakistan and China to increase technological investment to promote future economic growth.
More than 4,500 Chinese technology ecosystem representatives, including science and technology parks, high-tech production enterprises, investment firms, research and development centres, and government officials, attended the first-of-its-kind and largest Pakistan-China tech forum, held virtually on July 19. The summit was organised in collaboration with the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), Pakistan’s Embassy in China, the Cabinet Division of the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and China’s Zhongguancun Belt and Road Industrial Promotion Association (ZBRA).
Moin ul Haque, Pakistan’s ambassador to China, launched the meeting by informing participants about cooperative working groups established under the CPEC framework with the Ministries of Science and Technology and Information Technology. He acknowledged China as a global leader in the technology business and remarked that both countries have numerous opportunities to collaborate in technology, praising STZA’s role in establishing effective links with Chinese technology enterprises.
