Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the World Bank for its assistance in Pakistan’s socioeconomic development on Tuesday.
According to a statement made in this regard, World Bank Vice-President for South Asia Region Hartwig Schafer met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
The premier welcomed the vice-president and stated his willingness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in agriculture, vocational training, and energy.
Both parties agreed to maintain constant contact and collaborate toward common goals.
According to Radio Pakistan, Hartwig Schafer promised complete assistance in the future for initiatives supported by the organisation as well as economic reforms in the country.
Schafer praised the Planning Commission’s efforts in numerous sectors, particularly agriculture and gender equality, during a meeting with Deputy Chairman Dr. Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan.
They reviewed the country’s development priorities and support for Pakistan’s ambitious reform programme on economic growth strategy, according to a statement.
The team was informed by a Planning Commission representative on developments in different sectors, including energy, climate change, education, health, agriculture, and others.
Dr. Jahanzeb asked the World Bank to continue to assist Pakistan’s government in implementing the projects.
