Launch of Human Rights and Mental Health Report

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United States’ National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) released a report on mental health and human rights in tandem with the Taskeen Health Initiative (Taskeen). The purpose of this report is to draw attention to the human rights violations and malpractice experienced by people with mental health issues due to the lack of adequate policy, legislation, licencing, qualification, and ethical mental health service delivery.

Roche Diagnostics and Telenor collaborate to raise health awareness

Roche Diagnostics Pakistan and Telenor Pakistan have joined hands to raise health awareness in the country’s rural and urban areas. Telenor Pakistan will educate its Khushaal Watan app users about hepatitis and other diseases with a high prevalence and burden in Pakistan through interactive voice response (IVR), SMS, and live shows under the partnership agreement. Telenor Pakistan offers a variety of digital products and services that connect people to what is most important to them.

Pakistan needs 200,000 nurses to meet health crisis

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) representative in Pakistan, Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala, has stated that the country is facing a human resource for health (HRH) crisis, with available resources in the sector meeting only one-tenth of the country’s needs.
