Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has sworn in federal ministers and state ministers who will make up newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet.
At the President House, the oath-taking ceremony began with the recital of the Holy Quran. The oath was taken by 31 federal ministers and three state ministries.
Shehbaz has also chosen three advisers, bringing the total number of cabinet members to 37.
PM Shehbaz announced in a tweet that the federal cabinet was established following “thorough deliberations” with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and the government’s coalition partners.
“It is my fervent hope that federal ministers, ministers of state and advisers will provide leadership, and resolve the problems of the people. Work, work and only work is our motto,” he said.
Marriyum Aurangzeb of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Azam Nazir Tarar of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have been named information and law ministers, respectively, according to Radio Pakistan.
Ahsan Iqbal, a PML-N member, has been named Minister of Planning and Development.
Aminul Haque of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has been appointed minister of information technology and telecommunications, according to APP. Haque had held the same position in the previous PTI administration.
Hina Rabbani Khar of the PPP was also named state minister for foreign affairs, while Rana Sanaullah of the PML-N was awarded the interior ministry. Miftah Ismail of the PML-N and Aisha Ghaus Pasha of the PML-N have been named finance minister and state minister of finance, respectively.
