The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) presented the Rs75 commemorative banknote on Sunday to commemorate Pakistan’s 75th anniversary of independence.
Acting Governor Dr Murtaza Syed of the SBP revealed the notes during a ceremony held at the SBP Museum.
Following the flag hoisting ceremony and introduction of the commemorative banknote, Dr Murtaza stated that the SBP issues commemorative banknotes on a comparatively seldom basis; nevertheless, the production of coins and postal stamps is a regular and recurring feature to highlight days of national importance.
“Finance Department of the SBP bent over backwards for timely completion of this important project and I appreciate their efforts,” Dr Syed said speaking at the occasion.
The central bank has issued the Rs75 note for the second time. Previously, in 1997, the SBP released the first and only commemorative banknote to commemorate Pakistan’s Golden Jubilee.
Children with disabilities also performed national patriotic songs at the gathering to commemorate the country’s independence anniversary.
The Roshan Pension Plan (RPP) was also created by the acting governor to supplement lifestyle banking under the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) programme for overseas Pakistanis.
“Overseas Pakistanis can now take advantage of financial planning for their post-retirement life in Pakistan via RPP and enjoy a special pension plan,” he said.
SBP will soft launch the product on August 15 in conjunction with RDA banks and Asset Management Companies.
Dr. Syed, in partnership with the Press Information Department, also unveiled an exhibition of rare images of Quaid-e-Azam near the end of the ceremony (PID).
